The poker tournament saw a changing of the guard as Dutchman Gilles Simon changed careers from streamer to poker pro and scooped the PokerStars EPT Cyprus Main Event. The 24 year old won the PokerStars inaugural Dare2Stream competition along with a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship PSPC, and so made the move back in 2019. At the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino and Spa, he came in to the final table as chip leader, with six others all vying to become the first EPT Cyprus Main Event champ and a prize money of £162,925 up for grabs. Initially, Bjorn Kozenkai was the first to exit when he jammed from the cutoff preflop and his K10 was dominated by Sanchez's A10. Then it was Russia's Nikita Kuznetsov that faced a similar problem as he folded 8s preflop against a raise by kings, only to immediately fall to the same fate. Kuznetsov had 4 4 and Simon K K and the board ran a harmless 9 8 3 10 7, securing sixth spot for Kuznetsov and a prize of £2,11850. Yannick Schumacher was next to go as he was forced to jam from the blinds and his AQoff was beaten by Halil Tasyurek's jacks, resulting in an end to Schumacher's EPT dreams. It was a cutthroat affair and soon after, Tasyurek saw himself off to the cashier in fourth place, taking home £358075 after his preflop call was beaten by Andrea Datos shove. Now with only three players left, Dato, Simon, and Sanchez were the podium players and the order in which they would finish would soon be revealed.

Dato made a run from shortstack, but when his top pair was not enough to beat Sanchez's, Andrea Dato had to settle for a runner-up finish and a prize of £683725, finally leaving the match down to Sanchez and Simon.
