Cui Lijie, the majority owner of the now closed Imperial Palace Saipan casino, has recently expressed her commitment to finding an investor so the casino can reopen and contribute to the local Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas (CNMI) economy which has suffered following the casino's closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite receiving some interest initially, the bad decisions of past management and the subsequent litigation the company had to settle with former staff and vendors had caused investor interest to wane. However, despite the CNMI Commonwealth Casino Commission pushing for a full revocation of their license, Cui assured Marianas Variety that the company is keen to work with regulators so Imperial Palace Saipan can have a fresh start. IPI has already spent over $20 million to settle various lawsuits and the CCC is seeking more than $25 million in unpaid fees on top of the $100 million the company currently owes. The Philippines has become an increasingly popular base for online gaming suppliers and operators in recent years due to the lack of regulation in other countries. This in turn has prompted IAG to host their inaugural Super September series, with Manila After, which focuses on the latest developments and insights of the Philippines’ online gaming industry. The series aims to bring together the best experts in the field to discuss the latest topics in the Asia Pacific markets.

The Philippines is a rapidly expanding and maturing industry that is worth several billion dollars and has seen major investment from operators and technology companies.
