Royal Casino is the usual English name for the versions of Casino wherein the picture cards have a specific numerical value: Jacks have 11, Queens have 12, Kings have 13, and Aces have either 1 or 14. The main aim of this game is to capture cards from the layout spread on the table by playing a card which matches the number of the card from the player's hand. Royal Casino is less popular in Britain and North America, but is widely played in some other countries. The version of the game which is commonly used in the Dominican Republic, explained to me by Humbernio Lockward, contains many differences when compared to the Anglo-American version. In this version of Royal Casino, the restrictions, building and capturing processes as well as scoring of sweeps vary heavily. Moreover, the scoring takes a different subsistence when a player or team nears the target score of 21. This variant of Casino is usually played between two people, but it can also accommodate up to four people. A standard card pack of 52 cards is used. Furthermore, the Kings have a capture value of 13, Queens have 12 and Jacks have 11, and the number cards maintain their numerical value.

The Aces, however, are up to the discretion of the player as it can have a value of either 1 or 14.
